AWARENESS
We are pathfinders searching for happiness. Often the roads we take, looking for more wealth, fame or respect, don’t bring the desired results, only more emptiness. The young woman studying the map understands there are always choices and that our current position is only part of a bigger picture. Awareness requires that we live in the present, doing what we can to change, letting go of what we can’t. The person skipping a stone finds satisfaction in practicing this skill of releasing that which he no longer wishes to hold on to. Mastery doesn’t happen overnight, but involves patience and practice. The older couple on the bench are enjoying the view and each other’s presence. Lessons learned in life have taught them that their blessings of today were once wishes of yesterday. How we chose to live our life defines us. How clearly we see our values and their impact on others defines our environment. Observing nature and living harmoniously with it heightens our awareness that everything has a connection and a purpose.
