The Three Sisters
The Three Sisters are three volcanic peaks in the Cascade Range in Oregon, each exceeding 10,000 feet in elevation. They were named Faith, Hope and Charity by early settlers but are more commonly known today as the North, Middle and South Sister. Each mountain peak embodies a loving glance and emphasizes the principles of patience, understanding and service. They remind us that when we trust in a universal source of wisdom and love, we become confident that every situation and every person is soul enriching and that every experience has a significant purpose. Even though it may not be immediately apparent, our path is good and will always be good.
The symbol of the flower of life illustrates the necessity of water. With this moisture the lodge-pole pine cone remains closed and dormant. When a forest fire occurs, the cones pop open and the seeds fall out which insures their re-growth – nature’s continual cycle of charity. Like the falcon that soars above the peaks, we are able to see world and our life situation from a new perspective.
(The original painting is from the private collection of Joe & Diana Augustine of Walton, New York.)
